About this test

This panel focuses on four hormones that are central to men's health — testosterone, thyroid function, adrenal reserve, and sex hormone balance. It's designed for men experiencing symptoms such as fatigue, low libido, difficulty building muscle, weight gain, mood changes, or reduced energy that may have a hormonal cause.

Hormonal imbalances in men are often underdiagnosed because symptoms develop gradually. This panel provides the core information needed to identify whether a hormonal cause is likely and guide appropriate next steps.

Components

  • Testosterone (Total): The primary male sex hormone. Low levels (hypogonadism) are associated with fatigue, reduced muscle mass and strength, increased body fat, low sex drive, erectile dysfunction, and mood changes. Levels are highest in the morning, so a morning draw is recommended.
  • Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH): Controls thyroid hormone production. Thyroid dysfunction — particularly hypothyroidism — is a common and treatable cause of fatigue, weight gain, brain fog, and low libido that can mimic low testosterone symptoms.
  • DHEA-S (Dehydroepiandrosterone Sulfate): An adrenal hormone that serves as a precursor to testosterone and other sex hormones. DHEA-S naturally declines with age and may contribute to fatigue and loss of vitality when levels are low.
  • SHBG (Sex Hormone-Binding Globulin): A protein that binds testosterone in the blood, making it unavailable for use by the body. High SHBG can cause testosterone-deficiency symptoms even when total testosterone appears normal, because very little free testosterone is available. Knowing SHBG helps your clinician calculate your free (biologically active) testosterone.

Who is this test for?

This panel is appropriate for men experiencing symptoms that may be related to hormonal shifts — such as low energy, reduced sex drive, mood changes, difficulty building or maintaining muscle, or increased abdominal fat. Testosterone naturally declines with age (roughly 1% per year after 30), so many men choose to establish a baseline in their 30s or 40s and track changes over time.

This test is intended for male patients only.
