Lab Test
Vitamins & MicronutrientsMagnesium, Vitamin B12, Iron & Ferritin Test Panel
About this test
This panel checks four nutrients that are commonly deficient and collectively responsible for many of the most common symptoms people experience — fatigue, brain fog, muscle weakness, hair loss, and mood changes. Rather than testing one at a time, this panel allows for a comprehensive check in a single draw.
Nutrient deficiencies often coexist and overlap in symptoms, making it hard to pinpoint the cause without testing. This panel can identify which of these common deficiencies (or combination of deficiencies) is contributing to how you feel.
Components
- Vitamin B12 (Cobalamin): Essential for nerve function and red blood cell production. Deficiency causes fatigue, tingling or numbness in the hands and feet, poor memory, and megaloblastic anemia. At-risk groups include people who eat little or no meat, those over 50, people with celiac or Crohn's disease, and those taking metformin.
- Ferritin: Your body's iron storage marker — the most sensitive indicator of depleted iron stores, falling before hemoglobin levels drop. Low ferritin causes fatigue, hair shedding, poor concentration, and reduced exercise tolerance, even in the absence of frank anemia.
- Iron: Measures circulating iron in the blood. Interpreted alongside ferritin — low iron with low ferritin confirms iron deficiency, while low iron with high ferritin suggests anemia of chronic inflammation rather than true iron depletion.
- Magnesium: An often-overlooked mineral involved in energy production, muscle relaxation, nerve signaling, and sleep regulation. Deficiency commonly causes cramps, restlessness, difficulty sleeping, and headaches, and is frequently linked to poor diet, high stress, or use of certain medications.
Who is this test for?
This panel is well-suited for people experiencing fatigue that may have multiple nutritional contributors. It is especially relevant for those following a plant-based or calorie-restricted diet, older adults (who absorb B12 less efficiently), women with heavy periods, and anyone who has not had a recent comprehensive nutrient check. Identifying the specific deficiency driving symptoms is more actionable than treating fatigue without a clear cause.
