General WellnessWeight Loss Journey Test Panel — Baseline
About this test
This panel establishes a comprehensive metabolic baseline before you begin a weight loss program. It checks four key areas — organ health, cardiovascular risk, blood sugar regulation, and thyroid function — that directly influence your ability to lose weight and that need to be monitored as your body changes.
These results serve two purposes: they identify any underlying conditions that may be making weight loss harder (such as an underactive thyroid or blood sugar problems), and they create a starting point to measure your progress and health improvements over time.
Components
- Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP): Assesses how your kidneys and liver are functioning before dietary changes. This is also important if you plan to use weight-loss medications, which can affect these organs.
- Cholesterol and Lipid Panel: Measures cardiovascular risk markers. Many people lose weight to improve their cholesterol — this baseline lets you see exactly how much improvement you achieve.
- Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c): Reflects your average blood sugar over 2–3 months. Even modest weight loss — 5–10% of body weight — can significantly lower A1c in people with prediabetes or diabetes.
- Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH): Screens for hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid), which slows metabolism and can make weight loss very difficult despite diet and exercise efforts. Treating an underactive thyroid is often a prerequisite for successful weight management.
Who is this test for?
This panel is designed to be taken before starting a structured weight loss program. It establishes a baseline for the metabolic and hormonal markers most relevant to weight management — including thyroid function, blood sugar, insulin, and lipids — so that progress can be tracked objectively and any underlying contributors to weight gain can be identified before they become a barrier.
